Never too young for a hole in one

AN aspiring golfer has become the youngest member to sink a hole-in-one at Clitheroe Golf Club.

Sebastian Cave etched his name in to the record books after achieving one of the sport’s most acclaimed feats. The seven-year-old, who has been a member since the beginning of 2011, fired his one-shot wonder off the ladies’ tee of the par three, 135-yard, fifth hole. Read more »

The ISGA Home Internationals are to take place at Royal Portrush on the 27 and 28 February. Mondays competition will take place on the Valley course  and the Dunluce Links on 28th.

PROMISING young golfers in Cumbria are being encouraged to sign up to a talent-spotting programme in the county.

Bognor Juniors

Nearly 100 juniors, their parents, grandparents and sponsors attended the Bognor GC juniors’ annual dinner and prize-giving.

The event was more than tinged with sadness as it came just a short while after a popular member of the junior section, Dan Hoare, collapsed and died suddenly.

The player of the year award was presented to 15-year-old Jordan Vincent. He has shown incredible consistency throughout the year, reducing his handicap from nine to five. Read more »

Liam Cox from Hampton school leads surrey juniors

Hampton School student Liam Cox has vowed to lead Surrey’s young golfers to more national county championship glory in 2012.

The 17-year-old Burhill Golf Club star, a triple age group county champion by the time he was 15, is on the English Golfing Union’s Advanced Apprentice Sporting Excellence’ programme and was unveiled as Surrey’s new U18 skipper this week. Read more »

Hayley Davis leads in Abu Dhabi

Hayley Davis  who played for Brockenhurst in the UK college golf league produced one of the finest rounds in the history of the Junior Golf Championship after an effortless 64 left her within touching distance of back-to-back titles ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.

Bradford Grammar school won their semi final match against previous area winners QE Blackburn. Bradford now play the Grammar school at Leeds who won the area finals last year. Read more »
