AN aspiring golfer has become the youngest member to sink a hole-in-one at Clitheroe Golf Club.
Sebastian Cave etched his name in to the record books after achieving one of the sport’s most acclaimed feats. The seven-year-old, who has been a member since the beginning of 2011, fired his one-shot wonder off the ladies’ tee of the par three, 135-yard, fifth hole.
And the talented youngster, who has a handicap of 38, has also claimed the bragging rights in the family. His dad, Alex Cave, said: “Unfortunately I’m injured at the moment so I wasn’t there. My friend Barry Thomas and his son Harrison kindly agreed to take him. I’m gutted that I missed it but having played golf a lot myself I’ve never had a hole-in-one so he’s beat me to it. He’s got that bragging right for the rest of his life now.”
Alex added: “Seb has had a club in his hand since he started walking and he seems to really enjoy playing at the moment. I’m really chuffed for him. I’d like to say he’s got the potential to be as good as Tiger Woods or Lee Westwood but it’s probably a bit early yet.”
A club statement read: “Clitheroe Golf Club congratulates Sebastian Cave on a fantastic achievement in having a hole-in-one at the age of seven. Only recently the club has reduced the age of membership from eight year olds to five, therefore we are sure Sebastian must be the youngest member to ever have a hole in one!
