Robert Gordon’s team in the hunt for British golf title
The three-man team from the Aberdeen school is bidding for success at Carnoustie
Craig Lawrie, Ross Green and Finlay McPherson will take part in the final of the British Independent Schools Golf Championships.
Lawrie, 16, is looking to emulate the success his father Paul achieved when he won the Open championship on the same course in 1999.
Craig said: “It has been a busy golfing month for our family and I am very much looking forward to teeing off on a course that has great memories for us. We put a lot of effort into our training and looking to build on the success we had in the regional final last month.”
The Robert Gordon’s team qualified for the finals after winning their regional final at Royal Aberdeen against Perthshire school Glenalmond.
Team captain Ross said: “We are all looking forward to playing on such a historic course and competing with players at the highest level in school level golf where we will compete against 16 other schools from across Great Britain and Ireland.”
Robert Gordon’s head Hugh Ouston added: “It is great to see the family connection with the course and an excellent opportunity for the boys represent Robert Gordon’s College against some of the UK’s top young golfers.”
