Leon Leaney Leaves it Late but Leads the way as Lincoln ‘A’ Lives to Last Another Day

Round 4 was held on the famous 7000 yard Hotchkin course at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa. As expected, the course was in fantastic condition and was a fantastic opportunity for all the players to test their ability on one of the hardest courses in the world.

At the start of the day Easton College were lying in second place on both the Nett and Gross leagues behind the Sports Academy. Unfortunately the Sports Academy were unable to attend this round which left an opportunity for both Lincoln College A and Easton to qualify for the National Finals by winning the Nett league. Lincoln College seemed to make full use of home advantage with some really good scores from Lincoln College A with Nathan Kimsey, Paul Thomas, Sam Vickers and especially Leon Leaney. Leon found himself 5 over par through 6 holes but amazingly found some inspiration to find five birdies in the last 12 holes to finish on level par. The standout performance from Lincoln College B was Danny Yates whose exceptional putting skills saw him card a very good 79.

Easton had an extremely early start on the day with a 6am departure from Norwich. Tom Gowman, Aaron Bullock and Kristian Coop produced the team’s best scores but it was unfortunately not enough to stop Lincoln College A from winning on the day. The end result means Lincoln A move into 1st Place on the Nett League Table and progress with The Sports Academy (Gross League Winners) to the Team National Finals.
