The Derby College golf team finished in 1^st place in the recent ISGA college golf tour event held at the National Golf Centre Woodhall Spa.

The team of six players all part of the PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY player training programme recorded a GROSS total of 309, 2 strokes clear of 2^nd place Lincoln A. Greg Tickell from Derby recorded the lowest Gross scores of 74, level par on the 16^th tee, he unfortunately dropped 2 shots in the final 3 holes. Derby’s Chloe Stokes played 16 holes in 1 under par but her round was blighted as she encountered an awful lie in a bunker on the 13^th hole which led to a quadruple bogey 8, Chloe battled on well to return a gross 77, with Niall Quinn Jarvis returning 77 and Tom Bolger 80 to make up the winning scores.

PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY programme director Nigel Furniss commented;

“A great team performance at the National Golf Centre, some real positives for the players to build on. Excellent rounds from both Greg and Chloe set up this victory. We now look forward to the last fixture in our group, our destiny lies in our own hands now, if we win this fixture we will top the group.”

The format of each event is a team of 6 players represent each college with the best 4 scores from the 6 to count both GROSS and NET. The leading college earns 4 points, 2^nd place 3 points, 3^rd place 2 points.

Derby College are now top of their regional group of the ISGA tour in GROSS and 2^nd in NET divisions.

The next round will see Derby College in action again at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa on Wednesday 23rd November; if they win they will qualify for the British finals to be held at St Andrews in Scotland next Spring.
