DERBY COLLEGE TAKE 1st PLACE

The Derby College golf team finished in 1st place in the recent ISGA college golf tour event held at Immingham Golf Club. The team won both the NET and GROSS event in fantastic weather conditions from the other teams of Grimsby and Lincoln who competed.

 

The team of six players all part of the PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY player training programme recorded a GROSS total of 308, 16 strokes clear of 2nd place and a NET total of 293, only 1 stroke clear of 2nd place, Lincoln B. Andy Sansum (Kedleston Park) and Lewis Roberts (Conwy), both form Derby recorded the lowest Gross scores of 75. They were backed up by Greg Tickell (Hallamshire) 79 and Jack Taylor (Oakmere) 79.

 

PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY programme director Nigel Furniss commented;

“The team performed well under after finishing 2nd in round. Their attitude and application was  a major factor in their performance..”

 

The format of each event is a team of 6 players represent each college with the best 4 scores from the 6 to count both GROSS and NET. The leading college earns 4 points, 2nd place 3 points, 3rd place 2 points.

 

Derby College are now joint top their regional group of the ISGA tour in GROSS and 2nd in NET divisions.

 

The next round will see Derby College in action at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa on Wednesday 2nd  November
